Job Posting: Production Artist/Prepress Specialist

Red Line Editorial is looking for a full-time Production Artist/Prepress Specialist to add to our staff of print and online publishing professionals.

RLE creates high-quality content for the educational market in a variety of media. We are seeking a full-time Production Designer/Prepress Specialist to join our staff of publishing professionals.

Duties will include:
–Book production using established templates and styles
–Book layout using Adobe InDesign, including text formatting and image placement
–Inputting changes into InDesign files from marked-up printouts
–Process InDesign page layout files for commercial printing
–Perform prepress checks on other designers’ print-ready PDFs and working InDesign files
–Build InDesign templates for use in book production
–Manipulate and color-correct images and graphics using Photoshop and Illustrator
–Create charts, maps, or other graphical elements as assigned
–Collaborate with other members of our production team on templates and page turns
–Take a leading role in maintaining and communicating best practices for print production

The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
— A two-year or four-year degree in graphic design or like field
— Three years of experience working on page production projects, particularly multiple-page publications
–Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with team members, other departments, vendors, and clients
–A tremendous attention to every last detail, including the ability to adhere to style and layout guidelines within a template, and maintain consistency across multiple files.
–Talent to handle a wide variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality
— Ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
–Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign and Photoshop
–Knowledge and experience with CMYK printing process, including working with printer templates and specifications, best practices for print production, and troubleshooting of PDF files
–Knowledge and experience with color correction/photo aesthetics
–Familiarity with basic edit/proofreader marks
–Strong organizational skills
