Job Posting: Production Artist

Do you love books? Are you skilled in graphic design, page layout, and all things Adobe? Are you looking for a fast-paced and rewarding career in publishing? If so, then we are looking for you!

Red Line Editorial creates high-quality books for the educational market. We are seeking a full-time Production Artist to join our team of talented publishing professionals.

What you’ll do:
• Create book layouts in Adobe InDesign for projects on a wide variety of topics–from Alaska to zebras, and everything in between
• Build eye-catching book covers using text placement, photo manipulation, and cutouts
• Collaborate with editors to input editorial and client feedback, making each book the best it can be
• Manipulate and color-correct images and graphics using Photoshop and Illustrator
• Create powerful and informative charts, maps, and infographics following style guidelines for a series
• Prepare books for press, and experience the satisfaction of seeing your work in print
• Seek out opportunities to collaborate with the design team, and provide production assistance as needed

Our ideal candidate has:
• A two-year or four-year degree in graphic design or like field
• One year of experience working on page production projects, particularly multiple-page publications
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with different departments, vendors, and clients
• A tremendous attention to every last detail, including the ability to adhere to style and layout guidelines within a template, and maintain consistency across multiple files
• Talent to handle a wide variety of tasks without sacrificing quality
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop–we are self-described InDesign nerds and appreciate a good GREP code
• Knowledge and experience with CMYK printing process
• Knowledge and experience with color correction/photo aesthetics
• Familiarity with basic edit/proofreader marks
• Strong organizational skills
